Hot-Dip Galvanizing - The Industrial Gold Standard for Corrosion Protection
Bare steel left exposed to the elements will eventually rust, weaken, and fail. Hot-dip galvanizing creates a protective coating that shields the underlying metal from corrosion.
By dipping the steel part in molten zinc, the steel and zinc bond at the molecular level to create a sacrificial alloy layer that is stronger than a surface coating, such as paint or epoxy. Galvanizing can impart upwards of 50 years of protection with minimal maintenance.
At Shannon, we galvanize to ASTM A123, the industry standard for coatings’ thickness, adherence, uniformity, and other metrics, to ensure they last for many decades.
