About Us
Delivering Generational Protection
At Shannon Galvanizing, we apply long-lasting corrosion protection to the metal parts that are literally the foundation of American infrastructure, ensuring structural integrity for decades to come.
As a family-owned company with a name that stretches back in the galvanizing industry more than 60 years, for us durability is not a marketing claim, it’s a tradition.
Rooted in Community and Built to Last
We take deep pride in finishing steel parts that go into bridges, data centers, solar farms, and other types of structures, from our corner of Texas to many other parts of the country. Our Southern roots make us folks who believe in hard work, keeping our promises, and treating people the right way.
These traits have helped us build a reputation as a company customers can rely on for accurate, high-velocity galvanizing, every time.
What We Do
Full-Service Hot-Dip Galvanizing
This process creates a sacrificial layer of zinc to the surface of steel or iron, giving the underlying part decades of corrosion protection. It involves immersing the metal part in molten zinc heated to roughly 840°F, creating a metallurgical bond with its surface.
We galvanize to ASTM A123, the industry standard that regulates coating thickness, finish quality, and inspection criteria for zinc coatings on iron and steel products.
This results in parts that are tough enough to withstand harsh conditions, such as structural steel, utility infrastructure, and coastal/hazard-prone installations.
Specialized Services
We’re proud to support EPCs, general contractors, and infrastructure firms behind some of the nation’s largest projects. But we’re equally at home performing niche product galvanizing and OEM work, delivering consistent quality for boat trailers, ag hardware, solar supports, and more.
Our value-added services include project scheduling, QC oversight, and regulatory compliance support to help you execute at a high level.
Why It Matters
High humidity, salty air, extreme temperatures, and airborne pollutants pose a threat to steel parts wherever they come in contact with them. Galvanizing gives today’s builders and operators the peace of mind that their metals are protected for the long term.
And thanks to Shannon’s proactive issue resolution, problems are caught early and addressed immediately, limiting risk and rework.
What Makes Us Different
Genuine. Experts.
We don’t bother with corporate-speak around here–it’s not who we are, and our customers would see through it anyway. But we are a team of experienced pros bringing the science of galvanizing to bear on some of the most cutting-edge infrastructure projects in the world.
At the same time, we treat every project like it’s our own because we’re part of the communities we serve. Each one is personal for us, because we’re putting our names to it for the long haul.
A Modern Facility with a Mission
We chose the San Antonio area to meet a need in the region for a responsive, professional, high-quality galvanizer. We believe that with its efficiency and smart design with flexibility and scale in mind, our plant does exactly that.
24/7 Response Culture
We understand time is always of the essence. That’s why we’re available for you to reach anytime, because problems don’t wait. But our goal is always to catch issues before they hit the job site.

The People Behind the Zinc
A Legacy of Proficiency
The Shannon name has been a staple in the world of galvanizing since the 1960s, when Shannon President Charlie Shannon’s father owned and operated two 4-kettle shops in Houston and San Antonio. Charlie has been immersed in metal work his entire life, and in 2022 he put all his hard-earned know-how into a galvanizing company of his own.
And thanks to his lengthy experience, Charlie can quickly spot galvanizers who know their stuff…and the ones who don’t. In the Shannon staff, he’s assembled an expert team that is carrying forward the mantle of critical corrosion protection work done right.
We pride ourselves on being approachable and easy to work with. Feel free to reach out to us at any time for orders, support, or just to say hello.
